Mfantsiman Old Girls' Association
Mfantsiman Old Girls’ Association (MOGA) is the alumni body of the Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School, and it is a non-profit making organisation.
All Funds raised by the Association are channelled towards enhancing the infrastructure and facilities at the school to improve the lives of the students, teaching, and non-teaching staff in providing a better standard of education and sanitation of its environs.
MOGA was established in 1970s and now has a number of local (Ghana) and international chapters all focused on giving back to the school.
Given the very limited government resources and the highly unlimited demands of the school, members of the alumni know the only way of making our institution better for future generations is by taking up certain key projects to improve our Alma Mater. The different chapters and subgroups (i.e. year groups) are generally tasked with several projects in the drive for continuous improvement of the school.
Mfantsiman Old Girls' Association, UK
MOGA UK is the Mfantsiman Old Girls’ Association (MOGA) Chapter in the United Kingdom. MOGA UK embarks on many fund-raising activities such as Dinner Dances, the Annual Thanksgiving and Founder’s Day Service, appeals for Members and well-intended people within our communities to Sponsor the Girl-Child Project- a task and project at the heart of MOGA UK, Sponsored walks, Awards from the Methodist Central Hall Westminster (MCHW) Tithe Grant, Family Fun Days, Boat Parties, Barbecues and many more. The proceed realised from these activities are distributed equitably towards projects which have been presented to the office, the MOGA UK President from the school, and its surrounding communities for attention.
During the unprecedented COVID 19 pandemic, MOGA UK donated a number of medicines cabinets and medical supplies, essential PPEs and Detergents to the school from the proceeds realised from the Thanksgiving Service organised in September 2020. A contribution from the MOGA UK was made towards the work-in-progress; state-of-the-art Library that is gradually but impressively morphing into an aesthetically pleasing edifice on the Mfantsiman Campus.
Currently, MOGA UK takes up and pays the school fees of Four Young Ladies at the Tertiary Education Level in Ghana. This is under the auspices of the MOGA UK Sponsor The Girl-Child Education Project. Without the timely intervention of MOGA UK, the inherent knowledge, skills, and talents of these young ladies; their life’s potentials would not have been realised. The Project stepped in when financial support was not readily available to these brilliant minds to further their education.
MOGA UK continues to govern in accordance with the values and rights imbedded within the constitution of the Association. As much as the constitution could allow, Students have been put through leadership courses and continue to rise to support financially in realising the hopes and aspirations of the current students.
Last but not limited to these, MOGA UK has in the past donated Medical and Surgical supplies to the Maternity Unit of the Saltpond Hospital Ghana, following a request for support. This donation was partly funded by the award from the Methodist Central Hall Westminster (MCHW) Tithe Grant, and the Offering from our September 2021, Thanksgiving Service.
The MOGA UK believes in Democracy having a voice. In recent years, the governing body, (which are the Executive Committee Members) has been elected to office through a peaceful democratic election. This had the laurels of the Electoral Commission Team being the envy of most Alumni schools and highly applauded for their dint of hard work and sweat.
MOGA UK turned 20 years old this August 2023 since its formation in Great Britain and the United Kingdom. The dreams, culture and values of this great association have been held down by the invaluable wisdom of the Members of the Trustees Committee, the Patrons, the Membership Body, and the Chaplaincy. MOGA UK continues to grow in unity and diversity yet shaped by the rights and values of the United Kingdom’s Charity Commission.
